The renowned Jewish writer Sarah Gertrude Mullin heads a list of eight distinguished South Africans who are scheduled to receive honorary degrees at the March 22nd commencement exercises of Witwatersrand University, it was announced here today.
In the official University announcement it is noted that Mrs. Millin “has become an interpreter par excellence of South Africa to the English-speaking world.” The announcement adds that Mrs. Millin, who is the author of outstanding biographies of Field Marshal Jan Christian Smuts and Cecil Rhodes, as well as a dozen distinguished novels, “ranks in the English-speaking world as incontestably the most prominent South African writer of the generation.”
