Describing the work of the Joint Distribution Committee and the Jewish Agency for Palestine, as a great social experiment bringing rebirth to Jewish life, James Waterman Wise aroused the 300 delegates at the annual all-day session of the Federation of Jewish Women’s Organizations in Tremont Temple, the Bronx yesterday morning, to enthusiasm for the Allied Jewish Campaign.
Following Mr. Wise’s speech, representatives of the individual organizations rose to assure the chairman of the meeting, Mrs. David E. Goldfarb, president of the Federation, of contributions and support. More than $6,000 was pledged then and other organizations agreed to announce their contributions at a coming rally of the Women’s Division of the campaign. The contributions included $1,000 from Mrs. Harry Fischel, $1100 from the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Jewish Consumptive Relief Society, $454 from the Sisterhood of Rodof Sholem, $381 from the Women’s Association of the West Side Synagogue and $350 from the Sisterhood of Orach Chaim.
