Meetings of Jewish organizations here and at Tel Aviv decided yesterday to boycott the Haffa harbor, scene of anti-Jewish disorders last week, and to use the port of Haifa until the Government builds a harbor at Tel Aviv.
The decision here was taken by importers at a meeting of the Jewish Chamber of Commerce. A similar resolution was adopted by a conference of economic institutions, the Tel Aviv Municipal Council and the Marine Department of the Jewish Agency for Palestine at Tel Aviv.
The Tel Aviv Municipal Council decided to urge the Government to build a separate harbor for Tel Aviv and to ask that the city not be dependent on the Government offices at Jaffa. It was decided to send a delegation to High Commissioner Sir Arthur Grenfell Wauchope to submit these demands.
Hebrew newspapers urged the Government to construct a harbor at Tel Aviv, on the Mediterranean coast. The large shipping commission agency operated at Jaffa by Meier Dizengoff, mayor of Tel Aviv, will transfer its offices to Tel Aviv. The offices were burglarized by Arabs Thursday.
The Jerusalem chamber also sent a delegation to District Commissioner Campbell to ask measures for security and to restore normal economic life.
