So far as minority worship is concerned the Hungarian government does not know Jews as Jews but as Israelites, it notified the Szegedin Kehillah which describes itself as Juedische Kultusgemeinde.
The organization was instructed to change “Juedische” to “Israelitishe.” The ministry calls attention to the fact that emancipation was granted to the Hungarian Jews only when they professed “Israelite” faith.
