The British War Office has asked the British military authorities in Palestine for an explanation of the recent expulsion from Palestine of Constantine Poulos, Overseas News Agency war correspondent, Jack Lawson, the Minister of War, informed the House of Commons today.
Lawson’s statement came in response to a question by William Warbey, Laborite Z.F., who asked “on what grounds Constantine Poulos, an accredited American war correspondent and representative of the Overseas News Agency, was expelled from Palestine at six hours notice on Oct. 23 after filing only one dispatch.” Lawson replied that he was not yet “in possession of the full facts relating to this case” and added that he had cabled Palestine for a report.
(A cable from Jerusalem to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency today reports that the entire Hebrew press there hailed the return of Poulos to Palestine. This is the first time in the history of the country that an expelled correspondent has been permitted to return.)
