Jews and offspring of mixed marriage are barred from volunteer service in the German army during 1937 under new regulations published today by the Ministry of War. Other persons whose Jewish blood goes further back than either parent are permitted to volunteer.
Chancellor Hitler’s Voelkischer Beobachter reported that army records dating back to 1801 were under investigation for the purpose of establishing the religious affiliations of those in service. “The German nation wants German soldiers only,” the paper declared.
