A statement reassuring the Jewish population of this country that DAIA, the central body of organized Jewry in Argentina, was maintaining contact with the police authorities, as a result of the recent discovery of a militant neo-Nazi gang, was issued by the DAIA here today.
The neo-Nazi group’s suburban headquarters was found by the police last weekend, after an exchange of shots in a wooded area near the Ezeiza International Airport. All the members of the gang disappeared, but police found evidence that one of the group’s leaders is a self-professed German Nazi, Horst Eichmann, son of the late Adolf Eichmann.
Discovery of the Nazi gang, said DAIA, bears out the organization’s repeated contention that neo-Nazism in Argentina is aimed not only against Jews but against democracy in general. The police investigation, DAIA stated, has shown that the neo-Nazis “use anti-Semitism as a means for destroying all order and create tensions in the country.”
