Central Jewish organizations today called for a boycott of concerts by Walter Gieseking, pro-Nazi German pianist, who will tour Australia next month under the sponsorship of the Australian broadcasting Commission.
The Jewish Community Council of Sydney, pointing to Gieseking’s record as an active Nazi, appealed for a boycott. A similar statement was issued by the Board of Jewish Deputies of Melbourne which, however, asked Jews not to participate in demonstrations against the pianist.
