A total of 1,150,000 pounds ($3,220,000) has so far been raised by the Joint Palestine Appeal of Great Britain, it was announced here last night at an Appeal dinner by Issac Wolfson, chairman of the campaign. An additional 25,000 pounds was pledged at the function toward the 1950 goal of 2,000,000 pounds.
Mr. Wolfson announced that only 11,000 persons have contributed to this year’s drive, while 16,000 contributed to the 1949 campaign and 33,000 to the 1948 drive. Among the featured speakers at the dinner were Michael Comay, head of the Israel Foreign Ministry Commonwealth Division, and Kingsley Martin, editor of the pro-Israel New Statesman and Nation.
