The population of the province of Carpatho-Russia, in the Republic of Czecho-Slovakia, will have to elect on October 22 new deputies to the Czecho-Slovakian Chamber, and four senators. The Jewish Party hopes it will succeed in electing one Jewish deputy.

Under the electoral law, the total number of votes obtained by a party in the Parliamentary elections are not added up for the purpose of determining the number of representatives to which the party is entitled unless the party succeeds in at least one constituency by means of direct election.

Because the Jews have not yet returned a direct representative, they have been unable to obtain their proportional representation, which on the total number of votes cast for their candidates would entitle them to five deputies and three senators.

Carpatho-Russia, the only province in Czecho-Slovakia with a Jewish mass population, did not vote in the last elections.
