A citation praising former President Rafael Trujillo for his “great humane act” in helping establish a colony here of Jewish refugees from Nazism was awarded to the former president at a banquet held here last night to celebrate the fifteenth anniversary of the colony.
The award was presented to Senor Trujillo by Maurice B. Hexter, of New York, president of the Dominican Republic Settlement Association. The colony was organized 15 years ago after Trujillo donated a 26,000 acre farmland for the project.
