The Central Council of Jews in Germany protested today the proposed exhumation of the bodies of French concentration camp victims buried in a common grave in the Bergen-Belsen Cemetery.
The Council appealed to the French mission charged with the exhumation and the Ministry of the Interior of Lower Saxony to desist in the name of humanity and piety. The Council also suggested the creation of an international commission to supervise maintenance of the cemetery in which the martyrs are buried.
