Dr. Israel Goldstein, of Congregation B’nai Jeshurun of New York City, in an address here last night declared that it is of highest importance that the character of the Jew should be beyond reproach. He spoke at the closing celebration of the tenth anniversary of the Y.M. & Y.W.H.A.
“The world does not question the intelligence of the Jew. His mental alertness, sharp intellect and wit are readily granted, but it is his character which is often questioned. It is questioned not because the Jewish people have more reprobates than the non-Jewish populations, but because the Jew lives in a glass house, is always under observation and scrutiny,” Dr. Goldstein declared.
