The contributions by Italian Jews to the Risorgimento movement for the unification of Italy a hundred years ago was praised highly here yesterday at a special reception given by the Mayor of Turin to the Council of the Union of Italian Jewish Communities.
The reception was one of the events that are part of the observance of the first centenary of Italian unity and independence. In addition to lauding Jewish contributions to the Risorgimento, the municipality of Turin also cited the Italian Jewish community for its contributions to this century’s struggle against fascism and Nazism.
