Jewish servicemen and their families throughout the world will start observance of Chanukah Saturday night with candle lighting services, Chanukah celebrations, children’s programs and other holiday projects, the National Jewish Welfare Board announced today. The announcement said that 10,000 volunteers on the 265 JWB Armed Services Committee in the United States and abroad will assist in the celebration.
Chanukah services in Germany, including those for servicemen on the East German border, will be provided by eight Jewish chaplains. They are typical of those to be conducted by Jewish chaplains in Asia, the Pacific Islands, North Africa, Europe, Greenland, the Caribbean and throughout the United States, the JWB stated.
