Jews who are fighting in special Jewish units in Gen. Mikhailovitch’s Army in Yugoslavia have formed a special representative committee to act as a liason body between them and Yugoslav authorities and to represent them “in Jewish affairs abroad, ” it was announced here today by the Yugoslav Information Office.
The committee is composed of Janirih Hengol, representing the Czech Jews serving in the Jewish units; Ferenz May, representing the Hungarian Jews; Emil Lauber, representing Rumanian Jews fighting under Gen. Mikhailovich’s command, and Monjlo Irich of Novi-Sad representing the Yugoslav Jews.
A statement issued by the Jewish representative committee through the Yugoslav Information Office says that ” the Jews are fighting as equals in the Yugoslav Army.” The statement expresses thanks to Gen. Mikhailovich and to officers of his army for saving Jews from the Germans.
