There is no Jewish problem in Yugoslavia where “the Jewish community enjoys the same rights and has the same position as all other religious communities” according to Milo Jovicevic, director of the Yugoslavian Ministry of Religious Affairs. The question on Jews was one of several put to Mr. Jovicevic in an interview published in Liberty, a magazine devoted to religious freedom.

The Yugoslavian official stressed that his Government follows the practice of complete separation of church and state and that under the Constitution all religious groups enjoy full freedom to practice their faiths. He said this differed from the situation in Yugoslavia prior to. World War II when, while there was no state church, only certain religious groups were recognized and those unrecognized were forbidden to practice their faiths publicly.
