Thousands of Jews and non-Jews today welcomed President Chaim Weizmann at the St. Lazare station here when he arrived from Cherbourg. Zionist youths carrying Israeli flags sang the Hatikvah and Chief Rabbi Isaiah Schwartz led the delegation which greeted him. Dr. Weizmann intends to remain in France for two weeks.
The Palestine situation was discussed at this morning’s Cabinet meeting. Foreign Minister Georges Bidault said the French Government is satisfied with the Jews and Arabs acceptance of the U.N. truce order, emphasizing that the French delegation at Lake Success has always worked towards a mutually agreeable solution to the Palestine problem. The national Assembly’s foreign affairs committee decided to place the Palestine issue on the agenda of its next meeting.
