The first session of the newly-elected executive of the Union of Jewish Communities of Italy has adopted resolutions “in behalf of the entire Italian Jewry whose brotherly feeling is aroused towards German Jewry and expresses the warmest wish that normal living conditions may be reintroduced as soon as possible and that unjust restrictions may be abolished, granting the Jews equality.”

Another resolution which was adopted declares “the Jewish communities express the wish that all cultured nations undertake and form a binding treaty to render impossible the return of brutal forms of persecution and protect the Jews from maltreatment and unjust attacks.”

The new executive, under the chairmanship of Felice Ravena, has requested all Italian rabbis to recite these resolutions in the synagogues and to make references of a similar nature in their sermons.

The Jews of Italy, it is learned, realize the significance of these steps in view of the delicate situation created by the existence of a Fascist regime in Italy, and the fact that their actions are directed against the Fascist regime in another country. At the same time they are convinced that the Italian Government approves their expression of solidarity with their endangered coreligionists in Germany.
