An invitation to American Jews of Lithuanian origin to visit the country and participate in the celebration of Lithuania’s independence on May 15, was issued by General Nagevitsch, chairman of the celebration committee. The general cabled the Lithuanian Minister at Washington to extend an official invitation to Lithuanian Jews in America.
P. Zadeikis, Consul General of Lithuania in New York, in extending the invitation of General Nagevitsch, stated in a communication to the Jewish Daily Bulletin that a Jewish committee, in contact with the Lithuanian committee, headed by Chief Rabbi Sapiro, has been formed to receive the guests.
CORRECTION:
In the Jewish Daily Bulletin of April 17 an error occurred in the report of the action of the Massachusetts legislature in overriding the Governor’s veto of the Rosh Hashanah bill. It was stated that the provision will have application on rare occasions, no more frequent than once in six years. It is learned that from now to the end of the twentieth century, that is, a matter of 72 years Rosh Hashanah will fall on a Monday 34 times and Yom Kippur will fall on a Monday 22 times. Therefore, the provisions of the bill will have application 56 out of 72 years, 7 out of every 9 years.
