The eight anniversary of the Battle of the Warsaw Ghetto, in which 60,000 poorly armed Jews revolted against a vastly superior German force, was observed today in numerous American cities, according to reports received by the World Jewish Cultural Congress here. The revolt which started on April 19, 1943, lasted about six weeks.
Memorial meetings commemorating the fallen heroes were held in Jewish institutions in New York, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Los Angeles, Miami and other cities. In New York memorial meetings were held in more than 70 Jewish schools and in many synagogues. A special memorial session, addressed by Dr. Israel Goldstein and Dr. I. Schwarzbart, was held by the World Jewish Congress.
