Twenty-five Jewish graduates from the U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy will be commissioned at the 1953 commencement exercises during June and August, it was reported today by the National Jewish Welfare Board.
Nine Jewish cadets will receive Second Lieutenant’s commissions with the other members of the graduating class of the Military Academy at West Point; Eleven Jewish midshipmen will be commissioned as ensigns at graduation exercises at the Naval Academy at Annapolis; Five Jewish graduates of the Merchant Marine Academy will receive ensign’s commissions at commencement exercises at Great Neck, N.Y. Each of them will receive inscribed copies of the Bible and Dr. Joseph Hertz’ “Book of Jewish Thoughts” from the National Jewish Welfare Board.
