The Polish National Council today finally agreed that representatives of Polish Jewry be included in all political Polish bodies dealing with the post-war reconstruction and economic rehabilitation of Poland.
A proposal for such representation, made by Emanuel Szerer, one of the two Jewish members of the Council, had been under discussion for some time. The adopted plan also provides for the formation by the Polish Government – within the framework general reconstruction services – of a special commission to deal with problems of economic rehabilitation especially pertaining to the Jewish minority.
The Dziennik Polski, official Polish organ in London, today quotes a report published in the underground newspaper Glos Demokracji urging the Poles in occupied land to furnish shelter and food to Jewish victims fleeing from the Nazis. The Polish underground newspaper adds that many Poles have already shown an exemplary attitude in this respect. Some of them have paid with their lives for helping Jews, the paper is quoted as saying.
