Jews were among the largest contributors to the annual Community Chest campaign which has just been concluded. The largest donors in the drive were Mrs. Felix Fuld and Louis Bamberger, each of whom contributed $30,000. There were $5,000 subscriptions from Louis V. Aronson, Paul Block and Warner Bros.; $4,000 from Frank I. Liveright; $3,000. Edgar S. Bamberger, Joseph Stern; $2,000, William E. Lehman; and $2,000. Leonard Dreyfuss.
Final check-up of the Chest drive revealed that volunteer workers had turned subscriptions totaling $1,078,000 or 87.6 per cent of the quota sought-$1,239,628,38. In spite of the deficit of $161,000, officials were not discouraged as the amount raised this year is $42,000 more than in last year’s drive. Of the quota sought, the Conference of Jewish Charities, which includes fifteen constituent Jewish charitable and welfare bodies, was to receive $376,339.45.
