The approximately 1,300 Jews who sailed from the French port of La Ciotat, near Marseilles, in the steamer San Dimitrios–renamed the Latrun–had, valid Abyssinian visas according to the Paris newspaper “France Soir,” which defends the action of the French authorities in not halting the embarkation against which the British Government has protested.
The paper says that two other ships–the Asia, bearing 728 passengers presumably travelling to Colombia, and the Sagol with 757 Jews who held Bolivian entry visas–left before the San Dimitrios. Nothing has been heard of these vessels although there were reports several days ago that two or three immigrant ships were nearing Palestinian waters.
