The world headquarters of the Jewish National Fund in a review of the JNF activities over the past forty years since its foundation, issued on the occasion of the JNF conference in Detroit, announced today that it has invested about $30,000,000 in Palestine during these past four decades, of which about forty percent was invested during the last five years. Total JNF land holdings now total 620,000 dunams, the report stated.
Of the $30,000,000 total about $23,000,000 went for land aquisition and the balance for improvement of the tracts purchased, including reforestation, water supply and preparing the land for settlement, it was pointed out. From its workshops in rural villages, its agricultural holdings and its urban sites are coming large quantities of foodstuffs and manufactured articles for use in the Allied war effort, the JNF report emphasized.
