The Jewish National Fund will plant 3 million trees this year, largely to replace trees destroyed by forest fires that ravaged the countryside last summer, JNF Chairman Moshe Rivlin announced Tuesday.
Much of the destruction was caused by arson from the intifada. Rivlin said the trees will be planted at 120 sites, from the Lebanese border in the north to the Egyptian border in the south.
