Joe Weingarten, considered widely as one of Houston’s outstanding citizens, died here at the age of 82. He was chairman of the United Jewish Campaign twice, and was one of the founders of Congregation Beth Yeshurun. The Jewish Community Center, on behalf of which he has been active for many years, voted today to name its main building the Joe Weingarten Building. Mr. Weingarten was also very active in many non-Jewish causes.
