Robert H. Arnow, president of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, announced today the appointment of Joel Mandelbaum as the JTA’s first Charles Frost Fellow in Journalism. Mandelbaum, 24, a graduate of the Yeshivah of Flatbush High School in Brooklyn, has been an intern at the JTA since June when he received a master’s degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. A resident of New York City, he has reported for the Columbia (College) Daily Spectator and the Suffolk Sun on Long Island. The Charles Frost Fellowship for deserving candidates interested in the field of Jewish journalism, was established in memory of the late Charles Frost, who was a member of the JTA Board. Frost was particularly interested in communicating information and news of Jewish affairs.
