John W. Pehle, assistant to the Secretary of the Treasury, whose nomination as executive director of the War Refugee Board is expected soon, today visited the White House for a discussion of his duties.
The announcement of his appointment may be issued before the end of the week. Pehle, who is 34 years old, has been in charge of foreign funds control at the Treasury Department. He was born in Minneapolis and took his law degree at Yale University and letter taught law there.
