President Johnson said last night in his State of the Union address that the United States would try to increase possibilities of improving relations between Arab states and Israel.

“In the Middle East,” the President said, “a spirit of regional cooperation for the benefit of all unfortunately has not yet taken hold. An already tortured peace is constantly threatened. We shall try to use our influence to increase possibilities of improved relations among nations of that region.”
