Ambassador Eric Johnston, President Eisenhower’s personal representative, arrived here today to begin talks with the Israel Government on plans for regional development of the Jordan Valley resources. He was met at the airfield by U. S. Ambassador Edward B. Lawson and representatives of the Premier’s Office and the Foreign Ministry.
Mr. Johnston will proceed to Jerusalem tomorrow to begin his talks, which are expected to last into next week. Meanwhile, the Mapai political committee has been called into session for tomorrow to consider Mr. Johnston’s proposals.
