Contributions of more than $1,165,000 to the current campaign of the Joint Defense Appeal in New York to support programs aimed at combatting prejudice and discrimination were announced today by Harry Brandt, J.D.A. campaign cabinet chairman, and Irving M. Engel, associate cabinet chairman.
The sum which represents the amount pledged since the opening of the campaign February 1, was made known at a dinner of the campaign cabinet opening the fall effort to raise a total of $3,000,000 in 1951. The event took place at the Fenway Golf Club, White Plains, N.Y. Joint Defense Appeal is the fund-raising agency in the New York area for the American Jewish Committee and the Anti-Defamation league of B’nai B’rith.
