Formation of a joint Israeli-American publishing venture that will produce scientific textbooks in Israel, for export, was announced here today. The Chevrath Ovdim, holding company and economic arm of Histadrut, the Israel labor federation, has joined in the venture with the Pitman Publishing Corp, of New York City, an educational publishing house. The new firm will be located in Jerusalem where translations, editing and printing will be done. Production will be coordinated to meet American market requirements, the announcement said. Histadrut has also approved an agreement between the Pitman Company and Hamashbir, wholesale and merchandising cooperative of Histadrut, which will set up the printing plant in Jerusalem.
