The suggestion that the Council of Polish Organizations in America communicate with central Jewish organizations in New York for the purpose of united action for rescuing many thousands of Jews and Christians who were exiled as Polish citizens to Siberia when the Soviets occupied Poland, is made in Nowy Swiat, leading Polish newspaper published in New York.
The Polish paper recommends that Polish and Jewish organizations in America pool together their influence and financial resources for the purpose of expediting relief to the exiles. “This would at the same time bring the Polish and Jewish masses in America and abroad closer together,” the article declares.
The writer of the article, P. P. Yolles, urges further that a delegation composed of representatives of Poles, Jews, the American Red Cross and an expert in the field of food and clothing immediately proceed to Russia. This commission is to acquaint itself with the problem of the distribution of the exiles as well as with their immediate needs. The Council of Polish organizations in America, he urges, should intervene with the Polish government in London and with the U.S. government to obtain every possible facility for this end.
