Jonah J. Goldstein Heads Executive Committee of N. Y. Allied Campaign

Announcement was made yesterday by Chairman James N. Rosenberg that Jonah J. Goldstein had consented to serve as chairman of the Executive Committee of the New York Allied Jewish Campaign, and had established headquarters at the Biltmore Hotel. Mr. Goldstein, who was one of the vice-chairmen of the $6,000,000 drive in New York City in 1926 for the United Jewish Campaign, visited Palestine shortly after the August disturbances as a special commissioner of the Palestine Emergency Fund Committee at the urgent request of Felix M. Warburg.

Harry L. Glucksman, general director of the $2,500,000 New York Allied Jewish Campaign announced yesterday that Dr. Philip R. Goldstein, campaign director of the Jewish Welfare Board is associate director of the drive. Dr. Goldstein, a graduate of Cornell and the University of Pennsylvania has been associated with the Welfare Board since 1921. During the past six years he has been in personal charge of most of the campaigns conducted under its auspices, to raise funds for “Y’s” and community centers in this country.

Harry Sackler, author and playwright, winner of the prize for Yiddish literature recently awarded, and former administrative secretary of the Jewish Educational Association is district organization secretary. Mrs. Eva Garson Levy who directed the recent campaign for the Ort is director of the Women’s Division of the New York Allied Jewish Campaign. Ben L. Simon who was executive secretary of the New York United Jewish Campaign holds the same position in the present campaign.
