Jordan has flatly rejected an Israeli request that both nations coordinate the expansion of the respective international airports at Aqaba, Jordan and Eilat, Israel, which are less than 10 miles apart on the Gulf of Aqaba. To avoid confusion of signals and risk of collision on landing and takeoff, Israel had sought Jordan’s cooperation through the International Civil Aviation Organization.
