Jordanian authorities began distributing arms today in villages near the Israeli border, it was reported here. At the same time, special recruitment centers have been opened throughout Jordan to sign up additional volunteers for the Arab Legion, the report said.
Observers here expressed belief that the Jordanian moves were motivated more by King Hussein’s fears of the refugees being trained in the “Palestine Liberation Organization” than of any anti-Israel intentions.
