Jordan’s King Abdullah named his wife, Rania, queen of the Hashemite Kingdom. Palace officials said the move would have no bearing on the status of the king’s stepmother, Queen Noor, who has held the title of queen since she married the late King Hussein in 1978. One palace official said Noor would now be given the title of queen mother.
