Jordan’s King Abdullah said President Bush has “opened the door” to Middle East reform. Speaking June 9 at the University of Chicago, Abdullah said Iraqi elections, Syria’s withdrawal from Lebanon and Israel’s upcoming withdrawal from the Gaza Strip were positive developments, but only “homegrown” reform could bring lasting results in the region.
