Funeral services were held last Tuesday for Joseph Friedman, longtime financial secretary of the Newark Sholom Aleichem branch of the Farband-Labor Zionist Alliance in Spring Valley, N.Y. Friedman was 75 years old when he died September 13. He is the father of David Friedman, Washington bureau chief of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.
Born in Poland, Joseph Friedman lived in Newark, N.J. where he operated a clothing store for 25 years before moving to Nanuet, N.Y. 15 years ago. He was active in the Histadrut, Israel Bonds and the Jewish National Fund.
