Joseph Michaels was elected president of the Jewish People’s Institute of Chicago succeeding Jacob Loeb. Mr. Loeb was president of the Institute for 22 years but resigned recently because of ill health.
Other officers named for the coming year are Louis L. Kahn, Charles Shaffner, Mrs. Maurice L. Rothschild, Gustav Hochstadter, Mrs. Julius Stone, Theodore Regensteiner and Samuel Phillipson.
Summing up the activities of the community center during the past year, Dr. Philip L. Seman, general director, revealed that 1,230,716 persons took advantage of the departments offering recreational activities, physical education, academic education and study in art, drama and music.
