Judge Lewis Elected Brith Sholom Head As Convention Closes

Municipal Judge William M. Lewis, of Philadelphia, was unanimously elected Grand Master of the Brish Sholom organization as the convention assembled here voted today for this year’s officers.

Other Philadelphians elected to posts were: Martin O. Levy, secretary; Adolph Rosenblum, assistant secretary; Jacob Edelstein, grand treasurer; George H. Silver, treasurer of the mortuary fund; Benjamin Reibstein, treasuer of the investment fund; Mitchell M. Cohen, treasurer of the building fund; Julius L. Gross, treasurer of the disability fund; Maxwell E. Verlin, counselor; Harry Gordon, grand trustee; Frank Simon, treasurer of the scholarships fund; Dr. Joseph Langbord, chairman of the propaganda committee; Louis E. Gilgor, chairman of the publicity committee; David Zoon, chairman of the appeals committee; Leon Meltzer, chairman of the educational and cultural activities committee; Jacob A. Berger, chairman of the investment fund; Samuel Einhorn, chairman of the relief and philanthropy committee; Albert Horowitz, chairman of the committee on junior activities, and Harry Wartell, chairman of the printing committee.

Moses N. Helfgott, of New York, was reelected vice grand master, defeating Louis Levine. Herman Seidman was elected deputy grand master, New York State; Peter Littman, of Trenton, deputy grand master, New Jersey; and Max Epstein, of Pittsburgh, deputy grand master, Pennsylvania.

Nathan Franzblau, of Newark, was elected chairman of the law committee; Jacob Pfefferstein, of Elizabeth, chairman of the finance committee; Jacob Fisherg, of Trenton, chairman of the supplies committee; Abe Lemberg, of Elizabeth, chairman of the rituals committee, and David Biederman, of Newark, chairman of the state of order committee.

The new officers were to be installed late this afternoon, after which the conference was to be closed.
