Judge William M. Lewis, National Chairman of the United Palestine Appeal, left on a speaking tour on Sunday. He will cross the country from the Atlantic to the Pacific coast.

Judge Lewis opened the campaign in Buffalo on Sunday evening. This community has a quota of $25,000. Dr. Leo Wolman, one of the experts who aided the Joint Palestine Survey Commission, also addressed the opening function of the Buffalo drive.

From Buffalo, Judge Lewis will go to Chicago, where a campaign for $300,000 is now in progress. Judge Lewis’ visit will mark the closing of the local drive.

From Chicago, Judge Lewis will go to Denver, where he and Rabbi Samuel Mayerberg of Kansas City will be the speakers and guests of honor at the opening of the U. P. A. campaign on May 22nd. The Denver community has chosen A. B. Cowen as Chairman of the committee conducting the drive.

The next stop on Judge Lewis’ tour will be Los Angeles, where he will arrive for the opening of the drive on the 26th. Judge Lewis will visit a number of communities in the vicinity of Los Angeles. He will go from San Francisco to Seattle.

Efforts are being made by the communities which Judge Lewis will visit to raise sums previous to his arrival, so they can present him with substantial checks for the United Palestine Appeal.

At a dinner held in Chicago Monday night, a check for $35,000 was presented to Judge William M. Lewis, national chairman of the United Palestine Appeal, as Chicago’s second instalment on the $75,000 cash raised for the United Palestine Appeal. Pledges totalling $160,000 were reported. The drive will continue for another week.
