Despite the fact that the Nazi government sanctioned the organization of the Kulturbund Deutsche Juden, the association which publishes Jewish books and organized a specifically Jewish theatre, which “Aryans” are forbidden to attend, Deutschesrecht, official organ of the Nazi jurists, today demanded that the Kulturbund be refused legal status since “there is no such thing as German Jews.”
Following the same argument the German registry court refused to register the Kulturbund in the registry of German associations. The higher courts, however, over-ruled the decision of the registry court declaring that so long as Jews are citizens they are entitled to organize German Jewish associations.
The action of the court was criticized by the Nazi jurists, who said that the court “failed to understand the spirit of the German nation.”
