A petition addressed to Lord Halifax, the British Ambassador, requesting his Government to create a Jewish army, allow the establishment of a Jewish National Home in Palestine and to include a solution of the Jewish problem in its war aims was unanimously passed yesterday by more than 1,000 delegates attending the eighteenth annual convention of the Junior Hadassah which will continue here until Sunday.

The petition expressed “deep regret” that declarations on war aims by representatives of the British Government have said nothing so far about solving the “catastrophic problem of Jewish homelessness.” This situation, because of its exceptional character, calls for specific consideration, it was emphasized.

In reference to an independent armed force Jews, the petition urged that Great Britain end its “short-sighted policy in respect to a Jewish army.”

A dinner was tendered this evening in honor of thirty-five members of the organization who had obtained high ratings in an examination covering a three-year course in Jewish studies.
