Plans concerning various projects in Israel and educational work in the United States will be discussed at the 28th annual convention of the Junior Hadassah opening here tomorrow. The convention, which will last three days, is expected to adopt a $190,000 budget.
The delegates, representing a membership of 15,000 young women between the ages of 18 and 25, will also formulate plans for implementing a four-point program. “The four points of the Junior Hadassah program,” a statement today said, “cover social services for Israel, perpetuating Jewish customs and traditions in our homes, study of our Jewish heritage and the cultural developments of Israel, and American affairs. Israel offers us the challenge of molding a new country and a new culture of which our entire people can be proud. In America we have the challenge to strengthen and preserve the American way of life. Together these form the creative adventure’ upon which we young women in Junior Hadassah are embarked.”
In connection with the American affairs program of the group, arrangements have been made with the Office of Civil Defense in Boston and the local Red Cross chapter to set up a booth at the convention at which the delegates may sign up as volunteers for civilian defense or to give blood.
