The New York State Commander of the Jewish War Veterans of the United States called on Police Commissioner Howard R. Leary today to provide special patrols on a continuing basis to protect synagogues, churches and cemeteries against vandalism. Jerome N. Nisman referred to last Sunday’s desecration of Congregation B’nai Jacob in Brooklyn in a telegram to Commissioner Leary. He said, “Whether these vile acts are blatantly anti-religious or acts of malicious mischief, the fact remains that they do occur continuously. Only special patrolling of such institutions will discourage the warped perpetrators of such despicable acts.”
