Rabbi Meir Kahane, chairman of the Jewish Defense League, warned today that for every Jew who dies in the Soviet Union, two Soviet diplomats in the world will die. Kahane’s threat was made at a press conference marking his public debut since he arrived on aliya in Israel earlier this month. Kahane said the killing of Soviet diplomats would not be by his hand or by members of the JDL because, he explained, he has been put on five years’ good behavior by an American court. He said the assassinations would be carried out by “Jewish militants.” He refused to elaborate.
