A “Justice Brandeis Memorial Essay Contest” on the subject “Our Role in Building a Democratic World” has been proclaimed here by the Jewish Community Council for high school and college students, regardless of creed or color. The winners will be announced in a large public celebration on Independence Day, July 4, 1943.
The purpose of the contest is officially announced by the Community Council as being; “To pay tribute to the spirit and future of the United Nations; Contribute to the civic endeavors of Kansas City; Encourage the creative thinking of our youth; and Commemorate a great American and a great Jew, Louis D. Brandeis.”
